Certified Translation for Green Card
Have your immigration documents translated and certified for your green card application.
Which documents do you need to have translated and certified for U.S. immigration?
In general, you need your birth certificate, marriage license (if you are married), and divorce decree (if you got divorced) when you apply to get your green card from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS, formerly Immigration and Naturalization Service - INS). You may also need to submit your diploma, transcript, police clearance report, military discharge certificate, driver's license, and passport.
Basis of your green card determines types of documents for translation
You can apply for green card (permanent resident visa) based on:
- marrying American citizen
- becoming fiancé of American citizen
- green card lottery (Diversity Visa Lottery
- employment in United States
- bringing your relatives
- investing in United States
- humanitarian reasons (refugee, political asylum)
You may need to present lowest number of documents in case of green card lottery as compared to U.S. employer sponsorship and marrying American citizen.
In some cases, you may need certified translation of your personal correspondence such as private letters, email messages, greeting cards to prove your relationship with your fiancé or husband or wife.
Can you translate your own documents and certify?
No! You are an interested party and cannot translate and certify your own documents.
What is certification exactly?
We certify your translated birth certificate, marriage license and other certificates and documents on our corporate letterhead with our authorized signature, raised (embossed) corporate seal and a statement as required by USCIS. This certification which is called "Certification by Translator" is the first page followed by translated text of your document, and printed copy of your document as third page.
